Auf Wiedersehen! Hosted by supermodel Heidi Kum, Project Runway has become a staple in pop culture. Aspiring fashion designers complete a number of challenges and have their designs judged by Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and the weeks' guest judge. Each week a designer is eliminated until there are 3 left standing. The contestants are mentored throughout the show by the always stylish Tim Gunn (who also has his own show, "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style").
For the final challenge the top 3 designers present their collection to the judges during New York Fashion Week. This time, all of New York gets to see the collection alongside the judges. Ultimately, however, the judges have the final say as to who the winner will be of Project Runway. The winner gets $100,000 to start a clothing line, a spread in Elle magazine, and usually a new Saturn car.
The next season of Project Runway is in jeopardy as the show is caught in litigation between tow networks, Lifetime and Bravo. The shows producers, Weinstein Company announced that they had signed a five year deal with Lifetime Television that would begin with season 6 but NBC (which owns Bravo) filled an injunction preventing the show from airing on the other network. The air date of season 6 remains unknown.
