Rado image Headquartered in Lengnau, Switzerland, Rado is a Swiss maker of watches. Rado is a pioneer of scratch-proof materials. Rado produces over a half million watches every year with a staff of about 300. Originally formed in 1917, the company initially made only watch movements.

Rado premiered its collection of watches in 1957, and in 1962 they introduced the world’s first scratch-proof watch, the Rado Diastar. The Rado Diastar is now sold as DiaStar The Original. Rado joined the SMH group in 1983. The SMH group was renamed as the Swatch Group in 1998. Rado watches generally range from US$400 to US$28,000. The higher end Rado watches are made from precious materials.
