RoboCop - Sci-Fi & Fantasy Movies

RoboCop first appeared in the film of the same name in 1987. The film was directed by Paul Verhoeven. The movie takes place in Detroit, Michigan in the not-too-distant future. A police officer is murdered and re-created as a super-human robot known as a “RoboCop.” The film stars Peter Weller as Alex J. Murphy/RoboCop. The other stars in the film are Nancy Allen, Miguel Ferrer, Dan O’Herlihy, and Kurtwood Smith.

The film was followed by two sequels, a television series, and comic book adaptations. The original film was a commercial success upon its release, and has become a cult favorite. RoboCop's famous catchphrase is "Dead or alive, you're coming with me." RoboCop is programmed to follow four prime directives. The directives are: serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law, and never oppose an Omni Consumer Products officer. The fourth directive results in RoboCop being shut down if he tries to arrest a senior OCP employee.
