Saturday Night Live (SNL) is a weekly sketch comedy show that premiered on NBC in 1975. The show is made up of a cast of comics who perform a wide variety of kits along with a guest host and a performance by a musical guest. The show airs live on Saturday nights and is knows for parodying people and events currently in the media.

The show has risen and fallen popularity, ratings and quality over its long run, but has continued to be the launching pad of the careers of many comics. The show saw a rise in popularity and status during the 2008 presidential election for it's satirical look at the events and politicians of the election.
