Scratch - General Movies

Doug Pray directed the 2001 documentary film Scratch. The movie is about hip-hop DJing. Scratch examines the cultural and historical perspectives on the birth and evolution of the hip-hop disc jockeys (DJs). The movie includes a lot of interviews with some of hip-hop's most well-known and respected DJs. Scratch features Marc 7, Akil, The Allies, Almighty K.G., D.J. Babu, Afrika Bambaataa, The Beat Junkies, John Carluccio, DJ Cue, Grand Wizard Theodore, DJ Q-Bert, Grand Mixer DXT and others. Firewalks Film was the production company for the film. Director Doug Pray in the DVD commentary says that he faced a lot of problems in arranging the interviews with the DJs till DJ Qbert signed on. After his interview, the DJ's themselves called up Pray and volunteered themselves. The film was released on November 7, 2001.
