Sex and the City made the leap from HBO comedy series to romantic comedy film in 2008. The original television series was based on the novel by Candace Bushnell. Director Michael Patrick King also provided the screenplay. King was also a co-producer along with
Sarah Jessica Parker and Darren Star. The television cast reunited for the movie. The cast members include,

The movie, like the television series, follows four 40-something female friends in New York City. The film made its premiere on May 12, 2008 at Leicester Square, London. Principal filming took place between September and December 2007 in New York. The movie’s budget was $65 million; it went on to earn over $415 million at the box office.
