Shia LaBeouf is an American actor who became known as the star of the hit Disney Channel show Even Stevens. He comes from a long line of performers, and he got his start in acting very young. He began at age ten as a comedian, who pursued acting because his family needed the money.
After he hit it big on Even Stevens, he went on to star in the film Holes. His performance in the film got Hollywood’s attention and he has subsequently starred in such films as Tru Confessions, Dumb & Dumberer, I, Robot, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Constantine, Bobby, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Disturbia, Surf’s Up,
Transformers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and
Eagle Eye. Steven Spielberg thought LaBeouf reminded him of a younger version of Tom Hanks and has subsequently cast him in several major pictures.
In 2008, LaBeouf made headlines when he was in a serious car accident while driving drunk. His hand was “crushed” and his passenger, actress Isabel Lucas, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The injury was added to the plot of
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which he had begun filming. LaBeouf has also famously dated singer
Rihanna.
