
Shu Uemura, a Japanese make-up artist whose interest in cosmetics first began when he was severely ill and bedridden during his teenage years. He was one of the only male student enrolled in the Tokyo Beauty Academy. Shu Uemura developed and launched his first cosmetics line in 1960, but he first made a name for himself in Hollywood as a make-up artist working with Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Shirley MacLaine, to name a few. In 2007, Shu Uemura died of pneumonia at the age of 79.
Shu Uemura carries makeup, skincare and haircare products as well as perfumes. Also included in the Shu Uemura's line of products are eyelash curlers, which were mentioned in the movie '
The Devil Wears Prada'. Actress
