Star Trek Nemesis, released in 2002 by Paramount Pictures, was the tenth feature film based on the Star Trek series, and the fourth and last to star the cast from The Next Generation. Stuart Baird directed from a script by John Logan, and music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The producer was Rick Berman. Despite a budget of $60 million, the film performed below expectations, grossing just $43,254,409.
The shortfall may be explained, at least in part, by a concurrent release of other wildly successful films, including Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, James Bond film Die Another Day, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The movie stars Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Jonathan Frakes as Commander William T. Riker, Brent Spiner as Data, and Levar Burton (of Reading Rainbow fame) as Geordi LaForge.
