Wes Craven directed and wrote the screenplay for the 1982 horror film Swamp Thing. The film was produced by Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan. The movie stars Louis Jourdan, Adrienne Barbeau, Ray Wise, David Hess, Mimi Craven, Dick Durock, and Nicholas Worth. The story is based on the DC Comics comic book by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The movie was released by Embassy Pictures on February 19, 1982, and the film’s budget was $3 million. Principal filming took place in Charleston and Johns Island, South Carolina. A low-budget sequel followed in 1989. The sequel was titled The Return of Swamp Thing.
