The Amazing Race - Reality TV

The Amazing Race image The Amazing Race is a competitive reality show on CBS where teams of two race around the world for a chance to win $1 million. Hosted by Phil Keoghan the show debuted in 2001 and has hosted over 13 races, has won 11 Emmys and has been a ratings hit for the network.

The teams usually start off the race in a major U.S. city and are ordered to fly to a destination unknown to them until the race officially starts. Each team is given specific instructions on how to travel and a set amount of money for that leg of the race. Along the way, the teams must complete various tasks and challenges that are usually associated with the country or culture they are traveling through. Once a team completes the task, they can move on to the next one until they reach the "pit stop" (the final stop for the leg). The last team to reach the pit stop is usually eliminated from the race. However, there are times when a leg is a "non-elimination" leg and a team that arrives last is spared. That team must start the next leg of the race with some sort of penalty.
