The Golden Girls was a sitcom that ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992. The show focused on four elder women living in Florida and their daily lives as they dealt with old age, dating and friendships.
The show had a widow, Blanche who owned a home in Florida who needed roommates and Rose and Dorothy answered her ad in the paper. The trio was soon joined by Dorothy's mother Sophia whose retirement home burned down.
The series was an instant hit and continues to be even today as it runs in syndication. The show broke new ground as it portrayed older women who were still dating, sexually active and had an active life.
