The Simpsons is an animation sitcom on FOX created by Matt Groening, debuted on the network in 1989 and is one of the longest running shows on network TV.
The dysfunctional family first appeared in a series of shorts on the The Tracy Ullman Show in 1987. After three years, the shorts were developed into a full 30-minute series for prime-time. The show was one of the first to air on the then new network and became and instant hit and continues to be one 20 season later. The show has also won many awards and has been on countless "Best TV Show" lists.
The animated show follows the adventures of the Simpson family living in the town of Springfield (the show has never reveled in what state, if any, the town is set). The Simpsons have produced some of the most memorable moments in pop culture. The opening credits remain one of the most recognizable around the world. The Halloween episodes have become a tradition, and audiences look forward to them every year.
The Simpsons have been translated into many languages and is shown around the world.
