The Sims is a video game franchise that simulates life through the eyes of virtual people called “Sims” that you control. The original “The Sims” was released in the spring of 2000, followed by a sequel, “The Sims 2.” The third sequel, “The Sims 3” is currently under production.
The Sims was produced by game designer Will Wright, who is also known as the creator of the
SimCity series of games. The Sims gameplay focuses on you guiding virtually every aspect of your Sims lives. Starting with a small budget, you are placed in a small home from where you must make your Sim happy by finding him/her employment, buying appliances, cooking food, and even making sure they go to the bathroom regularly. Relationships are equally important as having friends is important to your Sim’s well-being. If you play your cards right, your Sim just might end up getting married to one of the neighbors. This addictive gameplay has resulted in The Sims becoming a computer gaming sensation. It is now the best selling computer game of all time surpassing the previous holder of that title, Myst. The game’s success has been hallmarked by appealing to a wide audience attracting both casual and female gamers.
