The Soup on E! Entertainment Television is a reworking of an earlier E! show, Talk Soup. This version debuted in 2004 and is hosted by Joel McHale who provides a comedic commentary on the weeks' happenings on TV.
McHale stands in from of a greenscreen and proceeds to comment/mock various TV shows in front of an audience made up of various E! employees, friends and family and other production staff. The limited audience is an important part of the show with McHale constantly interacting with them when talking about clips.
