Tina Fey image Tina Fey is a famous American comedian, writer, and actress who is best known for starring in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock and for appearing as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

Other notable Tina Fey credits include Mean Girls, Upright Citizens Brigade, Artie Lange’s Beer League, Martin & Orloff, Baby Mama, and This Side of the Truth.

She got her start in comedy studying at the famous Second City in Chicago with the likes of Rachel Dratch, Horatio Sanz, and Tim Meadows. In 1997, she became a writer on SNL. By 1999, she had become the show’s head writer, the first women to ever receive the honor. In 2000, she became a cast member on the show, performing the Weekend Update segments.

In 2006, she left the show and created her own sitcom for NBC entitled 30 Rock, which was loosely based on her experiences as a writer on SNL. In 2008, she won an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the show.

Also in 2008, she was lauded for her guest performance on SNL portraying Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Upon Palin’s selection to vice presidential candidacy, numerous comparisons were drawn between Palin and the similar-looking, spectacled Fey. Fey’s satirical portrayal of Palin, has been credited with single-handled ruining the credibility of Palin as a vice presidential candidate.

In her personal life, she is married to a former composer for SNL named Jeff Richmond. The couple had met several years before while at Second City. In 2001, they married, and they now have a daughter Alice Zenobia Richmond. She famously has a scar on her left cheek from a childhood incident in which she was attacked by a stranger while playing in her front lawn.
