David Cronenberg directed and wrote the screenplay of the 1983 science fiction horror film Videodrome. The cast includes James Woods, Deborah Harry, Sonja Smits, Peter Dvorsky, Leslie Carlson, and Jack Creley. Videodrome ranked four on Bravo TV’s 30 Even Scarier Movie Moments. Time magazine named it one of the 23 Weirdest Films of All Time. Cronenberg was influenced by Marshall McLuhan; Cronenberg was a student at the University of Toronto where McLuhan lectured on media studies in the early 1970s. Videodrome marked the major motion picture debut for rock star Deborah Harry. Deborah Harry is the lead singer of the rock group Blondie.
