The Washington Capitals are an Eastern Conference, Southeast Division NHL hockey team based in Washington D.C. Founded in 1974, they joined the league as an expansion team. To date, they have won 4 division titles, 1 conference championship, but no Stanley Cups. Their home court is the Verizon Center and the team’s head coach is currently Bruce Boudreau. The Capitals are owned by Ted Leonsis. Minor league affiliates include the Hershey Bears and the South Carolina Stingrays.
