The Washington Post is an extensive media and education company. It is the holding company of one of the premier newspapers in the U.S. Kaplan, an educational subsidiary of the company provides various educational services and products, internationally and back in the U.S. The company's main media operations consist of newspaper publishing, television broadcasting, magazine publishing and lastly, ownership of a number of cable television systems. In the year 2007, the company made a number of serious purchases and investment. Firstly, it acquired EduNeering. It also acquired an interest in the Shanghai Kai Bo Education Investment Management Co., and in 2008 it increased its investment in ACE education.
