
Wendy and Lucy was released in 2008 by the Field Guide Films, Film Science, and Glass Eye Pix production companies. It was distributed by Oscilloscope Pictures in the United States. Kelly Reichardt directed the film and wrote the screenplay based upon Jonathan Raymond's original short story, "Train Choir".
Michelle Williams stars in the film (playing Wendy Carroll), and is supported by Walter Dalton (playing the Security Guard), Will Oldham (playing Icky), John Robinson (playing Andy) and Will Patton (playing the Mechanic).
The film centers on a woman whose life is derailed while traveling to a summer job. It focuses on her struggle to get her dog back and her even direr struggle to survive without very much money at all. The film was released to generally positive critical reviews and was the recipient of two awards at the 12th Toronto Film Critics Association Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress.
