Wong Fei Hung - General Movies

Wong Fei Hung image Wong Fei Hung was a martial artist, practitioner of Chinese medicine, and revolutionary. He also practiced and taught acupuncture. He is regarded as a Chinese folk hero and the subject of television series and films.

He practiced in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, and was known for his compassion and policy of treating any patient. In Foshan a museum was dedicated to him. According to legend he was born in Foshan on the ninth day of the seventh month of the twenty-seventh year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1847). When he was five he studied martial arts with his father, Wong Kei Ying. His father was one of the Ten Tigers of Canton.

On-screen he has been portrayed by both Jackie Chan (Drunken Master - 1978) and Jet Li (Once Upon A Time In China - 1991). He has also been portrayed by Gordon Liu, Kwan Tak-Hing, Chin Kar-Lok, Zhao Wen Zhou, Willie Chi, and Sammo Hung. Wong Fei Hung also appears in an unofficial sequel to Kung Fu Panda released on DVD in East Asia.
