Wyatt Earp - Movie Dramas

Wyatt Earp image Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, or Wyatt Earp, was an American farmer, buffalo hunter, officer of the law, gambler, saloon-keeper, miner, and boxing referee. He lived from March 19, 1848 to Janurary 13, 1929. He is remembered for his participation in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral with Doc Holliday.

An iconic figure in American folk history, he has been portrayed in movies, television series, biographies, and other media. Wyatt Earp was known for a long-barreled pistol known as the Buntline Special. Buntline Specials were given to famous lawmen by Ned Buntline. The first on-screen adaptation was in 1934 in Frontier Marshal. George O'Brien was the first to portray Wyatt Earp on the big screen. The most recent portrayal of Wyatt Earp is on the HBO series Deadwood. Gale Harold appeared as Earp in two episodes during season three. Wyatt Earp has also been portrayed on-screen by such actors as Henry Fonda, James Garner, Burt Lancaster, Kurt Russell, and Kevin Costner.
