Lady Gaga, Rob Bell and Hell

Alexander J. posted an article on - Mar 27, 2011, 1:45 pm
Isn't the whole point of religion to teach us morals and to love and care for each other no matter what age, gender, sexual preference, religion or race we are? The question was one among many comments posted on a recent YouTube video by Lady Gaga. In one segment of the video, titled “Gagavision ...

It's been a long time since I've posted on my blog. My wife was in the hospital twice last year and it has been a difficult ever since. She's dealing with severe physical and emotional symptoms. To be available to offer my wife love and support and help, I dropped the course I was enrolled in at ...

At last, my first YouTube video. My friend Jim recorded me over at his house last Saturday while I sang and played an original tune, New Day. I've been meaning to record my songs and put them up on YouTube since...well, since the beginning of time itself. But I've hesitated because I wanted to m...

UPDATE: May 12, 2010-- I've been working on adding a functional horizontal menu near the top of the blog but I don't really know how to do it. Please be patient if you click on something and it doesn't work... Well I just couldn't take it anymore. I was looking at my old blog layout and I just co...

Happy New Year 2010...Belated

Alexander J. posted an article on - Feb 3, 2010, 3:11 pm
Greetings to everyone in 2010! I've not been posting here on Jordan's View lately and I'm quite frustrated about that. But I can say that one of the reasons behind my lack of posting is very good news-- I was accepted to the distance Masters of Religion (MAR) degree at Reformed Theological Seminary...

Today of course is Christmas Eve and many of us are eagerly looking forward to getting together today or tomorrow for happy moments with our families, exchanging gifts and enjoying hearty food, basking in all the abundance God so richly provides. Others are not so fortunate; they may have no one to...

Give Thanks to the God of all Blessing

Alexander J. posted an article on - Nov 26, 2009, 2:33 pm
Al Mohler has written an excellent reflection on the topic of thanksgiving. He points out that "giving thanks is one of the most explicitly theological acts any human can contemplate." On Thanksgiving Day in America, who are we giving thanks to, if we don't acknowledge God as the foundation of hum...

Change We Really Don't Need

Alexander J. posted an article on - Nov 25, 2009, 1:30 pm
I could try to write my own piece on why "ObamaCare" does not offer the short and long-term reform of health care this country really needs. But I'm certainly no expert on this very complex topic. Yet there is no shortage of experts who are analyzing the proposed health care reform package known a...

One writer and theologian I have turned to consistently for his reliable counsel concerning biblical spirituality is Pastor Bob DeWaay. Pastor DeWaay has been alerting readers for some time now about American evangelicalism's love affair with New Age spirituality, and how Eastern spirituality has b...

How Christians Really Change the World

Alexander J. posted an article on - Oct 24, 2009, 11:00 am
I just came upon an excellent and articulate essay titled, RELIGIOUS RIGHT R.I.P. by Cal Thomas that was posted November 5, 2008, just as President Barack Obama had been elected. Mr. Thomas argues that Christians wanting to make a deep, long-lasting impact upon our culture must not make their prim...

A humorous video from FRC (Family Research Council) on the burden the current health reform package (in terms of debt) will pass on to future generations. "There's no free ride with a government-run health care system."

A Blog A Day...OK so I'm Not Tim Challies

Alexander J. posted an article on - Oct 21, 2009, 9:20 pm
Well I didn't blog yesterday so I've already messed up a nice 4 day streak of consecutive blogging. I was going along so well... I was like, this is easy, this daily blogging thing. OK, so I guess I just was trying too hard to be... Tim Challies (you know, the Reformed Christian guy who never ever...

Blips on the Blogosphere 21

Alexander J. posted an article on - Oct 19, 2009, 10:00 pm
Now that I am back to blogging, by God's grace, I would like to try to post something "new" every day. Here on Jordan's View my preference has been to offer fresh, original content, but I need to be realistic-- given my current situation and schedule I know I won't be able to post something origin...

About Me

Each of us is given certain talents and opportunities in life. I think my God-given talents are in the areas of creative communication-- music (singing/songwriting), writing (which I do mostly on my blog, Jordan's View), and teaching. I have a BA in English Literature. On my blog Jordan's View, which I view as a web ministry, I write commentaries on American culture, articles about reformed Christian theology, and also write on other topics from a Christian perspective. The blog has developed a small but consistent audience. It's also a place where you can also find many great web resources on the Christian faith and Reformed Christianity. Lately I haven't been able to post much, due to dealing with other urgent matters. I hope to get back to a regular posting schedule shortly.

I’m also a singer/songwriter and have performed sporadically and I have plans to do much more with music. Right now I work as Editorial Coordinator for a major research journal.

Most importantly God has shown His mercy to me through Jesus Christ, and I am one who by the grace of God follows Him. I’m married to a gracious, pretty lady who helps me remember that God is very, very good and gracious and loves me a lot more than I can fathom. He's been working out a plan in my life that somehow is woven together with all the other plans he's working out in the lives of countless others-- and His plan is a marvelous one.
