Why :30 Seconds?

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I have more than a few people ask me what Thirty Seconds is about.  I used to explain it quickly by saying, “I feel like when we look back over our lives all those weeks, months and years will seem like they went by in about :30 seconds.”   OK…great…big deal.  We all know that life goes b...

Sad is NOT Easy…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I know a guy who once told me that “it’s easier to be sad.”  (Than happy.)  I was at a pivotal juncture shortly after we found out my wife’s cancer had spread from her bones to her brain.  It was a complete surprise to me, and I was reeling with confusion, disbelief, angst, and pure ...

Life…In Real Time…

A SHORT LOVE STORY IN STOP MOTION from Carlos Lascano on Vimeo. This is crazy pretty…took a lot of work…and captures the brevity of life for me.  (Thanks to my new buddy Josh for this!)  This will be today’s little reminder of that.  Don’t waste this day!

THIS sums it all up for me…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
It’s the book I wrote for my kids about a year after Laura’s diagnosis.  Took me like 10 minutes start to finish.  Just got done running…felt really wasted and sad…but I wanted to give them a little something to hold on to.  It’s child speak for “sh*t happens.” Click through to rea...

Carpe Diem…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I had a flash-thought tonight as I was standing in the kitchen. One of those quick blips that pops out of nowhere while you’re making a peanut butter sandwich.  No matter what I’ve done up to this point in my life…the good, the bad, or the ugly…I am going to live my life as if I’m dying...

I'm Not Kidding…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I saw this picture on Facebook.  It was taken by a relative of mine on the west coast.  I think it was on a sidewalk.  It doesn’t much matter…I think I’m going to have this printed on a Tee.  (It feels proactive to me…) Is there much more to living than this?  Let me know if  you want...

Sweeping My Front Step…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I was a 20-something when I picked up one of my grandfather’s books.  I was single and staying in my deceased grandparent’s house until I could find a place to call home.  (It was creepy…) I sat in their little library one night and pulled a book off the shelf called, “Make Your Life Wort...

Fear…again and again…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I wrote this in a notebook at the end of May as I sat with Laura in the infusion room.  I’ve been noticing how fear influences so much of what we do.  I believe that observation…while not revolutionary…will be a common theme from here on out.  I guess I’m publishing it now for 2 reasons: ...

Getting Old…

Andy K. posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I had the most incredible conversation with my wife this morning.  (As many of you know she has terminal breast cancer.)  Unlike me…she doesn’t talk all that much…but she says a helluva’ lot when she does. “I’ve been watching commercials on TV and they’re starting to get to me,”...

About Me

I guess mine is a serious blog that comes from the lessons I'm learning as I participate in my wife's stage iv breast cancer fight.
Sometimes I can be funny...but it's kind of a serious subject (understatement) and there is no way I want to learn what I'm learning. But here I am...
