My left knee has been sore for a couple of weeks so I took last week off from running. I’m going to rest it this week as well. I’m not training for any races so this is a good time to cut back on my mileage and try to get healthy.

Sunday long run

ShoreTurtle posted an article on - Jan 22, 2012, 1:00 pm
I ran 16 miles on snow/ice this morning. I’m still toying with the idea of running the Ocean Drive Marathon in March. I spent the majority of the time running on the sidewalks/paved path near some condominium complexes. The sidewalks were mostly clear there. I stopped back at home around mile 11 t...

Today, I ran my 6th marathon. It was a free, no frills, no amenities race. The best part was that the race took place 15 minutes from my house. The registration was limited to 20 people, so I am guaranteed a top 20 finish. With this race, my 2011 mileage total is 1015, which is my highest yearly tot...

I LOVE, LOVE my fleece hat from One More Mile that I’ve had for a couple of years now. I’ve wear it for EVERY winter run. It has held up well, but I ordered another one (why didn’t I think of this sooner?) so that I can rotate them when one is in the wash. The order arrived today and it was wr...

Philadelphia Marathon – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

ShoreTurtle posted an article on - Nov 23, 2011, 3:46 pm
When I ran the Philadelphia Marathon in 2006 (as my first marathon) I wrote that it was everything that I had hoped it would be. Five years later, the marathon did not disappoint. I had a great experience and I enjoyed it. I used 2006 as a blueprint for logistics. The redhead and I stayed at the Mar...

Today was the last 20 mile run before the Philadelphia Marathon. Our area got 3-4 inches of snow overnight. Ten runners showed up at Mercer County park for a long run.
