Anime has always had running themes, it cannot be helped. The same could be said for any genre or medium. If you watch enough anime these things seem to pop up constantly, but I do not see this as a bad thing, rather something comforting that lets you know you are watching the kind of anime you will... One of the problems one faces when picking a manga series is what they think of the animation style. I for one am prone to judging the illustration before I even think about the plot.
