Happy Bloggy Birthday To Me

Heather posted an article on - Apr 13, 2008, 7:50 pm
Happy birthday to me. I have been told I'm nerdy for celebrating my bloggy birthday (thanks Rach), but do I care? Never! I am happily celebrating with virtual cake and champagne. Yes, virtual. I can't waste actual calories on virtual celebrations, now, can I? So I will say "many happy blogs to me" a...

In The Light

I keep trying to find a life On my own apart from You I am the king of excuses I've got one for every selfish thing I do What's going on inside of me? I despise my own behavior This only serves to confirm my suspicions That I'm still a girl* in need of a Savior The disease of self runs through my bl...

It's my blogiversary on Monday of next week. Yay for a whole year of blogging! How fast it's gone. In light of that, I decided that now is the perfect time to make my Blogger/Wordpress decision. Wordpress it is. As of now, my posts will be published over there first (as my primary blog), and I ...

What is Freedom In Christ?

Heather posted an article on - Apr 8, 2008, 9:45 pm
This was the title (and substance) of a fantastic question posed by Jon over at Something Else. It got me thinking more. Which got me commenting. Then Ruth suggested I blog about it. My comment was: I've actually been thinking a bit about this lately. Where does freedom in Christ cross over to an ...

Wordpress?

I am experimenting. I have found blogger a little, um, messy and missing some important bits & pieces, so I've been having a play with Wordpress. I've imported all of my posts from here to there. Have a little look-see and tell me what you think! Don't stress, I'll still be blogging here for now...

I am rebelling against my own verbosity

Heather posted an article on - Apr 3, 2008, 1:49 am
Just to prove it, here is a very short post :-) I've been pondering this quote today: An authentic life is the most personal form of worship. Everyday life has become my prayer. - Sarah Ban Breathnach ---------- If you liked this post, please consider a small donation to Kidslink. Every little bi...

A WHAT????

Heather posted an article on - Mar 27, 2008, 10:33 pm
I can soooo imagine Jesus doing this - celebrating Easter with Krispy Kreme, Starbucks and a very large elephant. As the old saying goes, "There's nothing like a holy pachyderm to get the message across". What, there is no old saying like that? Well there damn well should be, that's all I can say....

Christ is risen!

We have had an amazing lead up to Easter this year.  Each day with our children we have read part of the Easter story, done an activity and added a charm to the girls’ “Easter Necklaces”.  By tomorrow they’ll both have the full story of Easter to wear around their necks and to proclaim to ...

Yep, that's me!

No, not a balding middle-aged man.  A *snort* guest speaker. Is that not the funniest thing you have ever heard?  It certainly tops my list for the year. The lovely but obviously misguided pastor at a church down the peninsula has asked me to “share my story” next Sunday.  I’m just hoping ...

See, I knew when I posted an “I have nothing left to say” post something would come to me! I thought I’d write quickly about an evening I had on Thursday. I found an interesting blog post written by Neal Taylor of Hand To The Plough.  I have been throwing around the idea of helping out in a...

Letting go?

Heather posted an article on - Dec 31, 1969, 7:00 pm
I’m not sure I can do this any more, this blogging thing.  I just don’t know if I have anything left to say!  Once in a while something comes up that I think deserves a blog post, but I don’t know if it’s often enough to keep this place going. So I’m considering letting go of this space...

The Mega Stats

Thanks to Scot McKnight for bringing this to my attention. The Hartford Institute for Religion Research has come up with a report about the people who attend Megachurches. One thing that stood out to me was the reasons people initially attended the churches: 1. The worship style 2. The senior pa...

That headline sounds like a fantastic business model, doesn’t it? McDonalds has near achieved world domination using these concepts.  It strikes me as a problem, though, when followers of Jesus use those same values. OK, this isn’t new.  But I’ve been reading a novel over the past couple o...
