Originally from the UK, Hedley spent his informative years growing up the in the wilds of Cornwall. With its rich rugby history, it was a fitting place for him to first discover the sport. Studying Engineering in Swansea, he found himself at home amongst the Welsh sharing a common passion of the oval ball.

After graduating, he moved to Germany for his first job, however it wasn't until opportunity took him north and he relocated to Denmark that he got back into playing. Working in Aarhus gave him the opportunity to play for one of Denmark's top clubs, Aarhus Rugby Club. Amongst the team's mix of players and coaches, some of whom had played Nationally around the globe, he rediscovered his passion.

A few years later, work and personal life changes put brought him across the pond and where he's been living in the US since early 2000. In that time, he has resided in Boston, Washington DC, and New York and in each place has been actively involved in their respective rugby scenes. In Massachusetts, he played for MIT Rugby Club. In DC, he played and coached for the Washington Renegades and also took up the whistle as a referee under the guidance of the Potomac Referee Society. In NYC, he assisted coaching the ladies of the Village Lions, but these days, now as the founder of this blog and podcast, he dedicates his spare time to share the stories and insights into the people that live and breath rugby in the USA.
