Lefty v. Lefty

Kenneth R. posted an article on - May 17, 2011, 11:29 pm
Over the years it has been documented;...Left handed hitters can't hit left handed pitchers! That kind of thinking is wrong, it should be; "Most left handed hitters have trouble with a lefty pitcher!" The Yankees have had some lefty hitters over the last few years (I'll stay within 10 years) that hi...

The Greatest Pitcher...Ever!

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Mar 25, 2011, 7:18 pm
Satchel Paige is by far, the greatest pitcher ever. Don't believe me? Ok, let's hear from some hitters and pitchers that played against him, shall we; 1-Joe DiMaggio, called Satch "the best I've ever faced and the fastest." 2-Josh Gibson was told by Satchel, one day I will strike you out with the ba...

Trade or Not to Trade

Do we trade Martin and/or Romine? In 2012 there will be the starting of the “Killer Bs” coming to the rescue. We could have; CC AJ Phil Banuelos Betances Nova, Noesi, Brackman As Starters With Bull Pen of; Mo Brackman Joba Logan Feliciano Robertson Noesi Nova Obviously, not all will make it in t...

Eddie Lopat-"Junkman"

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Feb 13, 2011, 10:05 am
Eddie Lopat, "The Junkman," teamed with fireballers Vic Raschi and Allie Reynolds to form the Big Three starting pitchers on the New York Yankees' five straight World Championship clubs from 1949 through 1953. In his debut, on April 30, 1944, he lost to the St. Louis Browns, as the Browns charged to...

Fantasy Line-up for 2011

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Jan 30, 2011, 10:51 am
Mike... the best lineup for the Yankees would be: Gardner – Cano – Posada – Swisher – Teixeira – Granderson – A-Rod – Jeter – Martin Ken(O.R.) I like that line up. IF A-Rod is healthy this year, I expect a big year from him, Brett, Tex and Swisher...Cano will be Cano. The rest will b...

Jeter-contract to long?

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Jan 9, 2011, 8:35 am
Jeter was a very good SS for the Yankees for many years. The key word here is...WAS. As of now, he is very much over payed. I have wearied of overpaying for what was, instead of what is. Jeter and Posada have made one hell of a lot of money playing baseball with the Yankees, why pay them when they a...

While at the game on the 4th, my buddies and I were talking about Jeter and his demise. I told them the same thing I have said on this blog; "Some players have an outstanding year, the year before the end arrives!" They have seen the same thing over and over again, as have I. This may not be the end...

Starter or Bull Pen--Pitcher

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Aug 10, 2010, 3:28 pm
One guy I knew in High school/College; he was about 5'9" and 170#(+/-) had a great arsenal of pitches, good movement and C&C. Always wanted to be a pitcher...not gona' happen...he lacked one thing, a fastball in the 90s. One other thing also, he threw as hard as the other guys but, whereas, they cou...

Joba and his troubles/My Opinion

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Jul 22, 2010, 5:04 pm
I saw a few things with Joba and his troubles; 1-Opens up (as has been said) to early 2-He has a big tell (his lead shoulder) not all the time but, enough (check it out, maybe I am wrong...I hope) 3-He will not pitch inside with the FB 4-Big recoil, without follow through on his fastball (can't get ...

Hard Play is not Durty Play

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Apr 11, 2010, 12:56 pm
Someone made a comment about the catcher of the Rays being a dirty player because of what he did...block the plate. Well, I disagree, "if one stays within the rules" you do every trick in the books to win. One slides into 2nd with spikes up, one throws up and in on a guy leaning over the plate. None...

Fans; Do they see, or just go by what they read?

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Apr 10, 2010, 8:37 pm
I sometimes wonder if fans just go by the stats, the blogers, sports writers or what?!? Because, those of us that have gone though the trouble of watching these guys can see what the stats don't tell one. Brett, Cervelli, Robertson, Z-Mac and Melancon are some of the guys I said would make it to the...

CF for Brett in 2010

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Jan 8, 2010, 8:07 pm
I am sure Brett will be a very dependable LF or CF player for the Yanks this year. If one looks at the history of his movement through A, AA, AAA, Yankees, one will see he aways has trouble the first few weeks/months. After the adjustment time he comes on stronger. With Longs help last year, he was ...

Z-Mack--Starter to major league BP? ! ?

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Nov 10, 2009, 5:51 pm
Z-Mac is not a strike-out pitcher and I would not want him to be one. Set-up guys like him, come in at the start of an inning or to get a double play, soft fly...in other words; use him as he is and for what he has.Not all starters can become BP pitchers, FACT! If he can handle the big league hitter...

Carmen Angelini-21 year old SS

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Aug 14, 2009, 8:28 pm
This guy was the second coming, at one time...now, not so much. His swing has gotten long and loopy, he strikes out a lot. I do believe some of this can be worked on and corrected. Defensively he is good and smooth, covers a lot of ground with a strong arm. As he is only 21 years old, I believe he h...

What is there to say about this guy except, he is knocking the stuffing out of the ball at SIY. One thing to keep in mind with his hitting, he is a collage guy (22 yrs old) hitting against high school kids (sometimes). His numbers are great against RH pitchers but, the left fielder has a tough time ...

Austin Romine-Catcher

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Aug 7, 2009, 9:58 pm
Last year I had him as a player to watch, he hasn't proved me wrong. The only knock has been his hitting power and his footwork behind the plate...people, he has improved very well. There was a reporter (I think) saying, he didn't think Romine was consistent enough (something to that effect)...news ...

Confidence/Conceit-Odds and Ends

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Aug 6, 2009, 12:58 pm
Some day I may understand why some fans denigrate a player with the skills of Brett Gardner? The only thing he can't do well is, hit with HR power. He and Melky (if they continue as is) make a very nice combination for the team, I had (have) my doubts of Melky but, as of now...both are good for this...

Glass houses--Roids

Kenneth R. posted an article on - Aug 2, 2009, 1:27 pm
Roids, big deal! What do we do with the great numbers by pitchers before they lowered the pitching mound? Wins and arm problems have been greatly effected by that one move? What about new stadiums with shorter/longer distances for HR, or the lively ball? What about pitching inside or brush-backs, th...

Andrew Brackman-24 yr. old - RH Pitcher

Another TJ victim, that needs time to heal and build his arm up. This guy could be one of the best pitchers to come down the pike in many years. The sad part of it is...he could also be one of the biggest flops but, I don't see that happening (baring injury). His mechanics are unacceptable for a guy...
