  • In the Shadow of Mt. TBR Jul. 8, 2008
I think we've all been there, or are still there, in the shadow of the piles of books that we want to read, or to be read. She captures it perfectly what it's like to be in that shadow while capturing her own insightful and often funny snapshots of books she's taken off her own personal TBR. I toast my favorite Kool Aid to you, Alisha -- oh, which, by the way, is black cherry, with a mixer of some kind of alcohol, of course, mixed in, maybe a Canadian Mist whiskey?

Hands down, Raych is the funniest book-blogger I have read so far. She pulls no punches and quite often in a hilarious way, but when she loves a book, she equally gives it the credit it deserves. Not only does she make you not want to read a book, but also to read books. My wife and I both have been influenced heavily by her and are in great debt to her for her observations.

  • Crummy church signs Jan. 11, 2008
A simple concept admittedly: Church signs. But with an endless supply of crummy church signs and the crummy people who put them up week after week, it's a sure-fire laugh every single day.

  • Bookish Ruth Aug. 1, 2008
Ruth just added a new header and for that alone, she deserves a bump up the rating scale. However, even without the header, it's the content that matters, and she has plenty of insightful reviews for regular readers of her blog.

Agree with Stephanie. This blog definitely rocks. Smart but funny may be cliche, but in this case, it's true, and to use another cliche, but still true: insightful.

When I cut down my Google Reader of book blogs I read on my Google Reader, Bethany's was one of the main ones I wanted to make sure I didn't cut. I would be missing out on not only her insightful reviews, but also her challenges such as Orbis Terrarum. If you don't know what it means, go check out her site.
