Tierney does not understand science or statistics. He has zero credibility with working scientists. He frequently bases his pieces on news releases and doesn't look at the actual research. His own statement says it all: “John Tierney always wanted to be a scientist but went into journalism because its peer-review process was a great deal easier to sneak through.”
