America's Declining Malls US News and World Report examines some of the contributing factors that have lead to a general decline in many of America’s malls, once the stalwarts of suburban prosperity and convenience. One interesting note from the article is the underlying (and accepted) notion that malls have “natural lifespans,” owing to changes in consumer habits, architecture and population.

Malls and generally any brick and mortar retailer. The internet makes for tough competition. Best Buy is a great example of something that I don't really see as sustainable. Just the other day, I was looking at some hdmi cables there going for 70 bucks. Go on the internet...10 bucks.

Online retailers have an advantage over brick and mortar retailers. I don't know how some brick and mortar companies stay in business.
