For the second time over the course of a year, it would seem as though Sprint’s ready to kill the BlackBerry PlayBook. A new version of the PlayBook OS is set to debut in February, but according to an EOL (End of Life) report out of SprintFeed, Spr...
Samsung has announced that it will invest a record $40.4 billion across its businesses this year, increasing the sum by 12 percent on last year’s figures, as it plans for what it has already labelled a “tough year”.
A study by the British Psychological Society found a link between stress levels and the number of times a person picks up their smartphone to check messages and mails. As an addict, I can completely agree with this finding. In short, the more you do it, the worse you feel.
Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) has made great strides in bringing the look of Android into a more consistent, cohesive form. Google's apps all look and behave very similarly, but now third-party app developers need to adapt.

I was just reading over the excellent (and long) story about Best Buy at Forbes and wondered, in light of today’s B&N announcement to pull the Nook financials out of their sinking brick-and-mortar business, whether stores like Best Buy and media giants like B&N need to exist at all.
Apple’s iPad is far and away the high-water mark when it comes to tablet applications, and a new report Wednesday says it just passed an impressive milestone. Users of Apple’s 9.7-inch touchscreen device are said to have downloaded approximately 3 billion apps since the product’s launch in 2010, according to ABI Research.
It's that time of the year again, folks. People are busy making resolutions and companies are busy preparing earnings statements. Apple updated its investor relations website and confirmed it will hold its Q1 2012 earnings conference call on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm PT. The press release with all the details will hit the wire shortly before the call starts.

Blizzard Entertainment has found a sure fire way to raise a lot of money for charity. The developer has decided to sell off around 350 retired HP p-Class server blades on eBay to the highest bidder. Each one has spent time helping to keep World of Warcraft online, and there’s a good chance if you’re a long-time player of the MMO you’ve set foot on one of these blades.
The days are gone when a doctor walked into a patient’s room and grabbed the paper chart at the end of his bed to check his medical history. iPads and tablet computing have revolutionized the way many companies do business, and the medical field is no different. The sharp, intuitive displays and interactive content of tablets naturally make doctor’s visits a more collaborative process.

Facebook announced on its blog Tuesday that all users will have Timeline within the next few weeks, bringing a close to the gradual rollout process that began September 2011.
Timeline changes the old Facebook profile from a list of your recent updates to a summary of your life since birth. Among its new features is a cover photo at the top of your profile and a timeline to which you can add life events not previously captured by Facebook.
Facebook will soon convert all users’ profiles to the new Timeline interface. The wide scale roll-out of Timeline will occur “over the next few weeks,” Facebook said in a blog post published Tuesday.
Thus far the interface, which shows each users’ life over an expandable Timeline that dates all the way back to his or her birth, has been purely opt-in.
As further evidence of Reddit‘s red-hot growth, the news aggregation site had 100,000 unique visitors at one time on Monday, breaking a previous record.
The figure, provided by Google Analytics at 1:43 p.m. ET on Monday, didn’t come from a particular post. The site had been nearing the 100,000 figure for a few weeks and finally hit it, according to Erik Martin, general manager at Reddit. The milestone comes after Reddit raked in more than 2 billion pageviews in December, double the amount the year before.

Scientology is known for being one of the more unusual - and secretive - religions, but we almost feel like signing up ourselves having seen that practitioners at the new Super Power Building will get access to an "infinite pit" and an "oiliness table." Details of the $100m "Flag Mecca" facility in Clearwater, Florida leaked to The Village Voice, spilling hints at some of the more esoteric equipment being installed.
Earlier this year, we found out that dogs can be trained to successfully detect cancer on the breath of humans — but we're still not sure exactly what smell it is they're responding to.
