Several of my thoughts/observations from this passage:
That we often see the anointing (empowerment) of God in the context of ‘church work’ or ‘preaching ...
Artists: make sure that you develop your craft BUT that you invest equally in developing in the anointing through a real relationship with God, prayer, fasting, study of the scriptures, and ...

... like than in my life, as well. There have been numerous occasions when I went to church sick. I had my sermon all ready but woke up miserable. I could bearly make my way up the steps, but the anointing kicked in and the symptoms lifted, and IÂ preached like normal. When we said the final Amen, I felt like collapsing again. I believe that is the way God works in our lives supernaturally.

i had a thought when i was anointing myself today...
God's physical temples in the old testament were always majestic... full of riches, glory, beautiful, awe-inspiring... etc etc.
and i've seen lots of european churches... and wondered at the amount of effort and money that went into building them

Presently, i need closure on a lot of things in my life. But i am in a state where silence is my loudest cry.

In one game—in one instant, really—Matthew Stafford won over the hearts of Detroit.
In possibly the most insane game I have ever witnessed as a Lions fan, the Detroit Lions found their quarterback.Â
This is huge.
You might now be writing me off as a delusional Lions fan raving about a meaningless game between 1-8 teams, but I assure you, I am anything but.
I long ago severed any ...

Much use was made of this anointing oil under the law, and that which it represents is of primary importance under the gospel. The Holy Spirit, who anoints us for all holy service, is indispensable to us if we would serve the Lord acceptably. Without his aid our religious services are but a vain

... the newly baptized is anointed with chrism on the crown of the head.
Two things. First, the anointing is not on the forehead, but on the top of the head. Note also the directive for silence. This ... friend faced in a parish in which her pastor insisted the post-baptismal anointing was to be done not with chrism, but with the oil of catechumens.
