... food even in the smaller, less expensive places. These things go together: wine|food.
So today we arrive in Barolo and check out our digs at TorreBarolo. Sweet. Then we amble down the street about 25 meters and find an osteria ... and tip included. It was a great meal that included a glass of Dolcetto and one of Nebbiolo. Oh, the name of the restaurant is Barolando @ Piazza Municipio 2 in Barolo.

... bit short though. It took a couple of hours to open up, which is fine, but the palate is short on character and length.
If I had paid the full price of £20 I would be very disappointed. For a tenner though it's not bad, a step up from everyday wine, but not much more than that. A 3 on quality, but not good value.

Saturday early dinner with Betsy before she headed to city for opening
night. With osso buco, escarole, and a green salad, the 2000 Mauro
Molino "Vigna Gancia" Barolo. Modern styled with some apparent oak,
but not as heavily extracted as some de Grazia wines. Red berries,
leather, a bit of vanilla. Medium bodied, moderately tannic. Over the
evening it held pretty steady, but a ...

Not to be confused with my first Barolo, of course.
Azienda Agricola Sordo Giovanni, Castiglione Falletto, 1995.
Found in a rack in the liquor storeroom, below all the Smirnoff flavored vodkas. Covered with dust. Another example of why people stay in the wine business.
Color: beautiful. Indescribable. The glowing russet-brown of autumn oak leaves, as if seen shimmering through crystal. The ...

I'm pretty sure we were on our way to or from the Schooner Wharf Bar. Probably from. I think we'd just had lunch - probably fish-of-the-day grilled sandwich, washed down with couple of Red Stripes. The fish of the day was probably snapper, or mahi-mahi (otherwise known as dolphin, but not the cute, squeaky kind). So we wandered home and, as happens in the Keys, there was a sudden downpour ...

- a perfectly round piece of beef roast simmered in Barolo wine (in case you don’t know, you can get a very decent bottle of red wine here for 5€ … but Barolo starts at 15€) on top of a very nice fonduta (cheese sauce) with a single potato chip.
I am still wondering how ...
