5" by 7" daily pastel painting, unframed I set up this still life last winter in a cardboard still life box and took photos ... composition. I used red fabric for the back drop and a colorful fabric under the objects. What is so interesting to me is that the painting frequently looks better than the actual still life set-up. Its oil plein air, alla prima. I painted it at the park today, really pretty out. The big white egret was in the bottle brush tree for most of the painting. Little birds were singing in the oak tree that I was sitting under and pooping on my palette. ( I had the painting tipped a bit so it was safe.) Its 8 x 10 inches, $300.

Another study for the Thresholds series. This idea came to me while working on "The Post." I've been painting this in my mind for a while...Finaly getting it all worked out. ... . This is a nearby wetland preservation named Eagle Marsh. As I drive by it is always fun to see how many different birds you may find. Especially in this old dead tree.
