Saturday, October 24th, is the presentation of the 2010 Giro d'Italia.
Trivia: Only two riders have won the Giro d' Italia every time they have entered: Bernard Hinault (1980, 1982 and 1985) and Alberto Contador (2008).

In what is sure to be an annual occurance, the Amgen Tour of California today announced its official route and host cities, along with several big name American riders that will ride in the May stage race. Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie and David Zabriskie are confirmed participants, and the list is sure to grow as other teams finalize racing schedules for their riders.

A 21 stage Giro d’Italia route map was unveiled in Milan Saturday for next year’s Giro d’Italia race. The race will start in the Netherlands on May 8 before racers pedal through some tough climbs, as cyclists make their way to the finish-line in Verona on May 30.

This weekend the Giro d'Italia 2010 route was announced at the usual presentation ceremony.
There are some interesting highlights, including a Stage 16 uphill time trial with 20% and 24% grade sections, and spending the first 3 days riding around/out from Amsterdam (hope for dry weather).

Lance Armstrong will miss next year’s Giro d’Italia after announcing he will race at the Tour of California.
The California race normally takes place in Feburary but will start on May 16 in 2010 while the Giro, the world’s second biggest stage race and first Grand Tour of the year, begins on May 8.
