... . Long story short: I don't like commuting and I don't like being a student in the traditional sense. It's an autonomy thing. There are praxis issues. No, I want to get my edumacation from the comfort of my sofa, in the comfort of my boxers and a T-shirt, thank you very much. (And let's not even go near the subjects of pedagogy, university admissions, and grading in Korea.)

Grandma Gail is visiting again! On that note, we've been eating more fresh salads, which I love.
So, we've been talking to Grace and Sienna about Fiber and the importance of eating foods with Fiber as regards its effect on bowel movements.
So, after dinner, I said to Grace, "Please excuse me. I have to go potty."
She replied, "I hope you ate fiber."

I'm off to Wichita for the week.
.
Packed up my erg, my camera and enough clothes for a month. Filled a cooler with good healthy food. Watered the plants. Filled the food and water bowls. Scritched all the furry ones.
.
Leaving the home front in Manda's capable hands...of course I haven't yet seen her but I know she's back in town hanging out at her mom's.

At the Monster Hunter Tri University event, I
had the privilege of being one of the "Professors" who
taught people about the world of Monster Hunter. Setting
up the whole experience meant everyone adding their own
touches. One of my personal favorites was the chalkboards
we had in our "classrooms" which we were allowed to draw ...

Interesting webtoy from the NYTimes for figuring and visualizing unemployment trends by demography, age, gender and edumacation.
White college educated males (Mitch raises hand) over 45 are around 4.1% so far. Which is up from somewhere around 2% two years ago. Rates for women in pretty much every combination seem to be lower than for men,

... wags her tail. When they come up the stairs and make a beeline for the water bowl, she chases them half the time. The cats are scared, and Daisy doesn't get enough exposure to them to have "re-edumacation" as Mason calls it. Me, I think the cats are wussies. She doesn't hurt them. She doesn't even catch them. She just likes a little game of chase. They should think of her ...

... to slip in a lesson or two. The humor and money making market commentary is used as a device to keep you coming back and learning, despite yourself.
Today, I require no pretense for the edumacation. Instead, I will demonstrate one of my favorite peeves, the folly of Confusing Correlation with Causation, and I wll use but a single chart.
Courtesy of Overthinking It, those of you unfamiliar with ...

I'm 'bout to learn y'all some edumacation!
So I don't mention it that much except in passing, but I am really into logic! Symbolic logic especially, specifically doings proofs, is something that I can sit and play around with literally for hours and not get bored. I am SIing the subject this semester, which means that I sit in class and take notes and then help students study, ...

... (with linked examples) review. It’s got a few big words in it and it’s fun to read. …And if you look at his “About” page, you’ll see he has an edumacation. I give him kudos because he comes from Ohio, where they are pretty serious about cartoons (come on, Ohio State has a cartoon research library! no joke, people!) … and I have many family peeps in Ohio ...

Best. Sports. Moment. (links to 45 sec. YouTube clip)
I loaded up heavy on academics this fall to have a bit more time for job search in the spring. That's kept me busy. That edumacation thing is pretty important, you know? 16 credit hours is a lot though.
Without any real races on the calendar, it's been hard to motivate myself to run much this fall. Been feeling both ...

A little while back... you were all treated to a free education in Smilies in Smilie Code 101. Since we're all about edumacation around these parts, let's go ahead with the lecture, shall we?

I went, the other night, to our local "edumacation" center where a traveling mycologist was giving a talk on our local mycology. He kept talking about the "fun-G" and I kept thinking about my old friend G and how much fun he was until he got married to a Christian woman and had three kids.
"Make sure you look carefully for the vulva," he said matter-of-factly.
