I think we all enjoy Engrish. It is one of those simple joys we all share when Japanese find the perfect way to slaughter the English language in an unintentional way with a comically different ... has been a recent absence of my posts. My present from Dubai for you is a subtle Dubai version of Engrish. Check out this ad in the autotrader I saw for a Ferrari 599. (sorry for the bad iPhone pic) This ...

Like any 70s child, my introduction to the entertaining (and puzzling) world of Engrish came with free trade. With the deluge of cutesy stuff from predominantly non-English speaking countries, I had pencil boxes that had me "lookiking out the window," stationery with lost-in-translation messages and...  Source:  Anna's Tasa
Found this today and I know some of you will get a giggle from it. It's basically a site taking the mickey out of Johnny Foreigner and shows examples of poor used English in the written form from our friends in other countries. Click HERE to see the site and pay particular attention to the Most Popular Engrish section. A brilliant concept for a website, it had me rolling about laughing.

Engrish, that is the Japanese take on English, is often a source of amusement. It can be found everywhere, in ads, shop names, information for visitors, even T-shirts! Some are funny because of simple spelling mistakes, others for their grammatical constructions, whereas others seem to have come straight from google translate on a bad day. But I think it’s better to let the examples speak ...

I need to get this translated from Engrish to English. I responded to an ad on craigslist for a table I want to buy. I asked him to send a photo and said that I could come by tonight between 5:30 and 6:30 or any time tomorrow. His response: "ok I send the real photo in attach , and I think tomorro is fine to me , please just let me know what's the time you come on today as there are ...

... In which one of the writers admits that for the theme song he stitched together what he thought was elementary Japanese, but turned out to be confusing to the singer they hired. I believe that makes it Reverse Engrish, which amuses me greatly. Other fun fact: Robot Chicken stuff is built on an eight inch scale, but Titan Maximum is 12 inch. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing, I suppose.
I found this on Miandering, actually--see links in the sidebar of my main page. But her picture is this: "Oops" as a name of a chip, okay. Engrish. But "Oops, Fugu"??? Thankfully this was taken in Indonesia, not Japan. Because I don't know about Indonesia, but fugu in Japan is blowfish. Make it correctly and it's delicious. Make it wrong and oops..fatal ...

I may have said this here before, but if I can't remember, you can't either so I'll tell you again: Izumi is busy learning English. She's three and a half so she's already been talking for quite some time. But a large majority of her talk was in Japanese until right after Misaki was born in April. My parents came to visit, and I'm convinced that threw some kind of ...
