This weekend I decided to try out the free-motion foot I bought months ago. I have three full size quilt tops waiting to be quilted and it's high time I did something with them. Here is my first attempt at free motion-quilting:

Quilting continues on the holiday quilt for my mother-in-law. The walking foot came off and the free-motion foot ... 39;t release the spray baste. Anyway...

I was finally able to figure out free-motion flowers for the white blocks! Yeah!!!
I was excited about doing some free-motion quilting on a real quilt, rather than a small quilted project, ... ...being satisfied with my flowers, but laughing out-loud again at the bizarre quilting lines in my ribbon borders. Oh well, something to learn on my next project.

I find that the quilt moves much more fluidly under ... s cold.... there is also a difference in the free motion stitch when the machine is prepared properly.
When you go to a quilting class, ask your teacher ... quilt.
Interestingly, the design began at 6" and has shrunk over an 1/8th inch after the quilting.

Walking foot or free motion quilting foot? I currently doing my free motion quilting without the foot dropped. I've only done one quilt this way but it came out quite well so I can only imagine getting better as I do it more. The walking foot, not sure if I need but I do know when doing bindings it doesn't always feed evenly so maybe that would ...

OK, that being put into print, here is a sample of the free motion quilting I have a passion for.
I am thinking of doing a whole cloth quilt in this, maybe some more focus on design, maybe not. Am I crazy???? Probably but this is what my heart beats for when I think of quilting. Well that and Batiks!!
