... than for loweroffs. In a stark contrast to last years '"crank'n'dangle" efforts in Nowra and the Blue Mtns, this time we headed to the trad Meccas of Arapiles and the Grampians.
Sure, it was the middle of a record heatwave and the Arapiles flies were so thick that you had to push them aside to get to the routes. We felt sorry for the five CAWA ladies (four genuine ladies ...

Pentax Da 21mm f3.5 limited seemed to suffer ill reputation for a very long time. The criticism included1. unsharp in the corners2. build not matching to limited lens standard3. neutral bokeh 4. inconsistent autofocus However, most people ignore the compactness of the lens to bring onto any hiking trip. This lens does suck in colour like a sponge. I found its light weight really adding a lot of ...

Nice as Melbourne was, I also wanted to explore a bit of the Victorian countryside, so after a weekend of partying in the city we hired a car and headed off to the Grampians, a mountain range and national park a few hours to the north-west of the city.

... to dry and gasify coal before burning it. In contrast, in the past year the state has added 294 MWs of wind energy at Portland and Waubra, near Ballarat, with a further 63 MWs under construction south of the Grampians.
The Bogong hydro station, opened yesterday, adds 140 MWs, while Origin Energy is building a 1000 MW gas plant at Mortlake. Across Australia, gas is now the source of most of the ...

... give a speech at the Game Connect Asia Pacific conference. Not being crazy enough to fly 25 hours just for a 3-day event, I'm taking three or four days both before and after. I'm planning to briefly hit the scenic Great Ocean Highway, then head up to Grampians National Park for some southern hemisphere summertime hiking. After the conference, we'll see. It may involve fairy penguins.
