Yesterday morning, Mr. Calm and I were out and about early, so after ten-and-a-half years of living here, we finally decided to try The Loveless Cafe for breakfast. I honesty don't know if it's more of a tourist thing or what, but it's hard for me to pass up a good breakfast. We got there at 8:30, just ahead of a huge wave of eaters, and were seated immediately. It's a cozy ...

I found these sweet little treasures today!
The homely little teacup and saucer is old
brown transferware with flaws where
the decal is supposed to meet.
But it was used and looked well-loved!
It has a special place on a shelf now with
some of my other brown transferware.
The little handkerchief box was too sweet
to resist!
It was marked "as is" because it had a tag
stuck to the top of ...

Work and a Nebraska football game kept me from running Saturday, so I went a little longer on Sunday.
I wanted to see the drawn-down Missouri River from the other side, so went over the trestle and along the Cochrane road/trail. They've got it blocked, but I slipped through and saw the site, or at least the staging area for it, then went up and cross-country to the RR.
Followed that east to ...

made an impromptu trip down to little India tonight with niron to get a punjabi suit for his bro's wedding..went a bit goggle-eyed at the jarring colours and freely used embellishments of the suits..decided to settle for a very very basic one as I foresee it being stored in the depths of my wardrobe after the do..
Objective settled, we decided to go grab a quick bite while the suit was being ...

Just a quick jaunt down elkes4's spur about the clinic and doctor's office. To the best of my knowledge the clinic is going forward. I don't think it was "squished . . . like a bug." The agenda item was about granting variances, if I'm not mistaken, and all the variances and replatting went through by unanimous vote - which means that even that subversive fellow in the ...

Time: 22:29
Distance: 2 miles
Yes, that is really slow. This afternoon the sales team took a break and suited up in our running costumes to go for a jog. My new boss, Paul Perrone, and I ran down the other members of the group after getting out the door late. Paul sounded a little like Johnny G when he would run 5 or 6 miles with the Brown XC team. Lots of coughing, hacking and uncomfortable ...

After waiting the whole morning for my bro to be done with his Sunday errands, I finally was on my way to Bangsar.
Got some parts of my face threaded at the only place I found so far where it costs me less than RM10.
Checked out the Tiny Tapir booth in Bangsar and bought a plain glass straw (and RM18 brush) for RM51. Sounds expensive I know, but I'll feel better for myself in the long run ...

RollingStone:Bono: The music that really turns me on is either running toward God or away from God. Both recognize the pivot, that God is at the center of the jaunt. So the blues, on one hand -- running away; gospel, the Mighty Clouds of Joy -- running towards. And later you came to analyze it and figure it out.

Did you miss me?
We've been up in Northumberland with my rellies for a little bit of R&R. It was lovely to spend some time with them and to be near the sea for a little while - nothing quite like a walk along the prom for blowing away those cobwebs!
We didn't take many photos this time, but I've got a couple to share in a minute. First though, it's Thursday and that means my ...

Back in Cairo. Yesterday was Eid Al-Adha, the Muslim celebration in remembrance of Abraham and Ishmael (the basic equivalent of the Biblical story of Abraham and Isaac). The night before the eid Cairo was woken by thunder and rain - unusual excitement. The morning of the eid there was lots of slaughtering of sheep and cows in the streets in celebration of the salvation of Ishmael and in ...

... XR600R even though I ride hotrodded bikes like a plated KLX450R. It does it all, doesn't complain even with swept-back bars, and doesn't ask for an oil change when I'm done today... or this year, for that matter.
All together, it was a 100-mile jaunt in exactly-to-the minute 4 hours worth of riding from my WNC home, to the beautiful hills of Tennessee and back. 'Till next time.

Top to bottom: Electric Fetus, Walker Art Center Gift Shop, self-explanatory, Grumpy's. All shots taken in 2006.
Sarah and I are heading down to Winnipeg's big cousin for a short spell in January. So far, the hotel has been booked, and a list of dope places to eat has been cobbled together (shout-out to Steve St. Louis and DJ Hunnicutt). On the way back, I'll be quietly pondering the ...

Antoine Thompson is special. Don't believe me? Just ask the State Senator himself.
In the midst of a vote to address at least part of the state's $4 billion budget shortfall, Thompson was nowhere to be found. Where was our illustrious Senator? In Buffalo, attending a fundraiser. When pressed by the media about whether his fundraising and his inability to find his way back to Albany to ...
