... both in terms of fabric and pattern.
Review, you say?
Pattern: McCalls 5575. I made a size 8 on top, and ... me pause here, and curse the genius pattern drafters at McCalls. (Children, and anyone offended by a lot of swearing may skip this ... this fits well now. 4 inches!
While most of the cursing was directed at McCalls, some of it was self-directed, since I had read Christina's review, and ...

... any way that I could fix it, and although it is wearable, it doesn't look very good. Fortunately, I still had almost 2 yards of fabric left over, so I decided to try something different. I had been wanting this McCalls pattern,5941, so I went to my local Walmart and bought it. I cut it out and practically made the whole thing in one evening. I did finish it up the next day, and wore it ...

I have a boatload of patterns that need
to be cut and sewed up or gotten rid of. Does anyone know of a good
pattern exchange? Id love to get rid of some patterns and they should
go to a good loving home.
I have never made a muslin before but
there’s a first for everything. This pattern looks like a challenge to
me and the sizing is a bit off…. on the small side. So I will try to
work ...

The finished jacket. What do you think? I must say I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
This is the 10th and final piece for the wardrobe competition. I used McCall's M4972 (now OOP).
Pattern Description:
Princess seam jacket has trim variations and curved or squared front opening edges.
Pattern Sizing:
I made a 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once ...

Another thread reminded me of a recipe I wish I still had. It was from a McCall's Cooking School circa the 70s. It was an Italian cassata with a ricotta/rum/candied fruit filling and a rich mocha frosting. The one I'm remember does NOT appear to be authentic to the Sicilian tradition. But I believe it was based on it with the substitution of the chocolate/espresso icing.
If ...

<b style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">A cookie press is required to make these cookies and an electric cookie press is the easiest to use. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This cookie is a favorite especially at Christmas time when I tint them red and green and sprinkle them with decorative ...

Here's another dress I made from my stash of new fall patterns. Back in August, I was lusting after a tiered dress from J.Crew. The pattern is McCalls M5877, view A. The fabric is a very light-weight jersey knit I bought at Michael Levine. I didn't want anything heavy because I was worried that the gathers and tiers would be unflattering.
The pattern was not too hard to make except that I ...

... Swing Sesh White Christmas Ball. The Swing Sesh is my swing dancing school, and it was a night full of big band jazz, pretty white dresses and dapper gentlemen (mostly in white!). This was my effort, based on McCalls 5036, from 1959. The pattern called for a lace overlay over the yoke but I adapted it into a strapless gown with a boned bodice instead.
The fabric is from Ikea! A sturdy drill, I ...

... to hold that precious little angel!
Pat drew a teeny-weeny version of us this year, because I kept ragging him about having to frame the 24 x 36 poster he drew of us a few years back!!
The McCalls by me, and us by Paul McCall!
Finally, dear Sam Gorrie with me, and with her crocheted-caricature ducky, by Emi Sato, who won the top award for Oustanding 3D!
Next year, our convention will be held ...

I'm working on another 3 pairs of pj pants from my TNT pattern, McCalls 2476. I've discovered that flannel has become too hot to sleep in these days, so I cut out 3 pairs from my cotton stash. This is basic production sewing for me--I stacked and cut all 3 pairs at the same time, then each step was done 3 times before proceeding to the next.
All I have left to do are the casings and hems ...

... how she got stuck with such a crazy family when she is so normal!!
McCall is "bananas" about Halloween!
Look at me sitting like a big girl!
Story time with Morgan, she is a great reader!
Woobie!!
The girls watching morning cartoons! Em has NEVER taken a pacifier but she loves to chew on McCalls! McCall is no longer taking her pacifier either, it was more of a hassle than a help!

It is a McCalls Craft pattern but I also made for them each, a tote bag to put these in they have hanging loops on their heads so they can be displayed that way. The red tote goes with the red creature...I also ...

It was a sewing kind of day today
I got started on a nightgown pattern I've had for awhile. McCalls's M5769. The material was also bought from Fabricland awhile ago. I generally don't gravitate to pink clothes, and there's not a pink to be had in any of my home decorating, but for me there's something comforting about wearing pink to bed. Go figure. This is the top ...
