... Country wife mural, created for the Festival of Britain 1951 by Constance Howard. Until recently it was housed at Denman College ( the home of the WI), and that is where I was most fortunate to see it. It has now been given to the National Needlework Archive to be cleaned and conserved. It is a massive mural 4.5 metre by 5 metres. I went along the the NNA this afternoon to the open day at their ...
... .  I loved how the sun comes up behind this sun: I sure hope that the squirrel won’t be tempted bother with the siding or the roof of this house: Thanks for popping by.  I am off to getting a few things done and in order to check them off my to-do list!  We have a sunny day — YAY! I found this wonderful needlework set in the internet with the instruction how to make it. It said only takes 4 hour to make (although probably more than 4 hours for me to make). I think this is a wonderful gift to give to somebody that like to sew or to quilt. It's pretty and and not long to make. I want to make this if I have time.

... a piece of felt that i'd previously embroidered, to make the back neat and tidy. (the felt isn't really wonky, my photoshop skills are! i edited out my name, and i'm better at needlework than at photoshop!) i was really happy with how it turned out. and i really love the frame i used, it's basically a piece of rubber that fits over a hard plastic oval. you used to see them, but ...

People have been, not unnaturally, surprised at the provision in Anglicanorum coetibus that former Anglican bishops who, being married will not have been promoted to episcopacy by sacramental reconsecration, can be allowed to wear episcopal insignia. As many have commented, this is not without Catholic precedent in the persons of Abbots, archpriests, and certain ranks of monsignori; but I doubt ...
Here are the instructions I posted September 29, 2008 when I completed this pattern in blue.  Basically, for seasoned knitters, with about 48 ounces of worsted weight yarn, cast on 230 stitches using size 10 1/2 circular needles, work a seed stitch for six rows and then begin knitting six stitches and purling six stitches across the row, maintaining four seed stitches on each side. Twisting ...
I've had time to embroider! Yippee! Though I was thinking I might have this whole needlebook finished by the end of the long weekend, and though I realize now that it probably won't happen, I'm still pretty excited about the progress I've made on this French Maid Needlebook kit from Access Commodities. I've finished the monogram, added some bullion roses to it, and almost ...

My great aunt made this beautiful piece of art a long, long time ago.  My mom inherited it, and made a very functional piano bench pad with it.  I remember this being on the bench when I was growing up and taking piano lessons. Last year, she surprised me with it for Christmas, but it had aged somewhat over the years, and all that was left was the rectangle linen that this was done on.& ...

Well, even though I was working with wool while knitting and cuddling under a quilt with a wool blend batting, none of the wool was for these sheep. (I do have some wonderful hand loomed blankets that my mother-in-law made decades ago from their own wool.) I would have to admit that one of my favorite things about Greece is hearing the bells on the sheep as the shepherd takes his flock by our ...

If I've done this correctly, you should be able to see a photo of a cross-stitch project I just finished at this link: This is one-and two-strand cotton DMC on black 14-count Aida canvas, from a Bucilla pattern. I finished it last night. I am very pleased with it. I intend to frame it. ep

I admit it: I’m a miniature fanatic. I have a 1:12 dollhouse. I love all things small — the tinier the better — especially miniature needlework. So I am crazy for Anja’s Dollhouse, a hobby site where Anja displays not only her dollhouses but also her incredible miniature knitting and needlework. If you love tiny, go browse around and enjoy…

... out. Lots of heavy wet snow. This has the makings of an extended outage. We’re fairly well prepared, so no worries for a while. It sure is pretty! Not much to read here, I know. If you want, the December 1 Needlework Nutshell went out early this morning (subscription box in sidebar), and the December 1 Stitchers’ Voice will be out later today. I’ve got articles and projects in ...
