As such, this 40th-anniversary reissue of Space Oddity does not so much commemorate a great album-- it doesn't even rank among ... early-70s disillusionment-- with few exceptions, the rest of Space Oddity isn't quite as eager to thrust forth into the great unknown.

Rowan Williams would meet most people's criteria for categorisation as an eccentric, even an oddity. As a Welsh-speaker, he is also at least arguably a member of an ethnic minority. But he is right. Our Political Class simply assumes that religious belief in general and Christianity in particular are peculiar to foreigners (they treat serious Christianity as for more foreign than Islam), ...

Cheney's Daughter Suggests Dad Should Run In 2012 -- Verse-Case Scenario by Tony Peyser
Never tell me what the odds are! It was Cheney who led this war in 1991 that "couldnt be won." haha. Okay, he made use of superiority and right now, he isnt exactly Han Solo when it comes to probability. I doubt he'll be candidate in 2012. Or maybe, the Repugs will turn even more odd. Or ...

M’s printer ran out of several color cartridges at once, so she went out to the store. She came back with a new multifunction printer with scanning, fax, and copying functions in addition to regular (high quality) printing functions.
She bought it because she really did need a new printer.
But also because buying a new multifunction printer cost ten dollars less than buying new ink ...

KC and I really enjoy Castle, the mystery show with Nathan Fillon (Firefly) as a thriller writer who helps the police solve murders.
Castle: The Complete First Season

Not only do you have the police brass actively holding up closure on this case...:
But police brass decided not to close the investigation after speaking with friends and family, all of which had serious concerns that Scott -- a man with seemingly few troubles and no outward signs of distress -- wouldn't have killed himself. ...

On my way back from lunch with filmmaker Pascal Forneri where I heard all about the fascinating Serge Gainsbourg documentary project he is currently finishing, I stopped to admire the view of “La Tour” and the replica of the Statue of Liberty’s flame. I was then told that the flame overlooks the tunnel entrance where Princess Diana died.
Which explained all the hand written ...

I was working with a customer recently that kept seeing 10-12 second hangs in MySQL. Everything would be working well and suddenly all data changing statements would stop working.
Once the 10-12 seconds passed, the system would recover and everything would be fine for a while. This would repeat every 30-45 minutes normally, and would occur more frequently when the system was doing some heavy ...

“The analogy of being” is an extremely odd phrase. Such a phrase may have a meaning- it may even articulate some fundamental reality- but it is an extremely odd phrase nonetheless, and one that seems on the face of it to be a category mistake. The “analogy of being” is exactly the same kind of phrase as, say, “the univocity of dog”. What is the univocity of dog ...

In Sunday's loss, the Cowboys had more success on third-and-nine plays than third-and-four. They converted twice in three chances on third and nine but failed in their only attempt at third-and-four.
It has been this way all season. The Cowboys have converted only 2-of-7 chances on third-and-four for a .286 success rate. They are 4-of-12 on third-and-nine for a .333 success rate.
One of the ...

The following is a sentence from Business Lexington's story on Jim Gray running for mayor of Lexington last night (over half of which was either a direct Jim Newberry quote or a list of his "accomplishments" *):
"Downtown revitalization efforts under Newberry have also included renovation of the Lyric Theater, now underway, and encouraging the revival of a Lexington music scene ...

The Archbishop of Canterbury has accused the government of treating religious faith as an "eccentricity" practised by "oddities".
“If it is eccentric to believe that I am being eternally watched by an immortal figure and to selectively adhere to the ideas contained within a two thousand year old book of uncertain provenance, then call me eccentric,†said the Archbishop ...

The first photo is one of a series of 3 taken in Kharkov during the Nazi occupation, they appear to be part of some sort of "mock" funeral ritual. Does anyone have any information on this?
Also note the 2nd photo (bottom), I suppose the posters represent a Nazi effort to win "hearts and minds".
All of the photo's may be viewed here.
