... AM every morning.  My daily routines, including working out and painting, are as disrupted as my sleep, and only the fact that I swore I would paint for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout (see sidebar for link) got me up and moving on this one. As usual, I spent at least an hour wandering around the required area on Google Street View, and when I found this road I knew I had what I wanted. ...
Yet another quick, (not totally realized) last minute sketch for the Virtual Paintout. This is a drawing of a now closed, art deco ice palace in the heart of Berkeley, CA., recently designated an historical landmark-much to the chagrin of the owners who would rather keep their options open to the possibility of tearing it down. Efforts to save the structure are still in process. I was drawn to ...

... my mp3 player to listening to the birthday girl practice her violin. I had fun with these curvy lined ink drawings. It is hard for me to leave out color, but I decided to leave this as is. I see the Virtual Paintout is in a very pretty area in Norway this month. Google Maps Pegman and I may just have to take a virtual trip there to sketch. Right now I am off to clean up the dust ETC. from ...
I haven no new artwork to show. I have been running errands and doing too much surfing and blog reading. Plus tonight I played with the Google Street Map thing for Norway. I have several photos saved for the Virtual Paintout but like the last month, I still look for more. Way too much fun to browse thru the streets and be nosy.
Arroyo Panorama 12 x 24 inches oil on canvas Last week I had the pleasure of painting this panorama of the Arroyo Seco from a vantage point high above the canyon. I wanted the late afternoon look, so I had to work fast. As it turned out, I left the painting of the sky and foreground for later, concentrating on the trees, grasses, mountains and architecture as the sun relentlessly continued ...

... this course, however I must admit that I am feeling that overwhelm that I mentioned above. I am merely going to try to continue with the two challenges, Following the Masters and Virtual Paintout. I think to try to do more would make me too frazzled. I like having a month to get a piece done. I definitely do not do them justice when I hurry myself (as I did with my latest exam piece for the ...
