I came across a reading challenge today that I might try. Nothing *crazy* like 100 books in 2010 or anything like that! :)
It's the Lost in Books Colorful Reading Challenge.
When I go to the library, I often have no idea what book I want, I just pick something colorful. So this is an interesting twist to my "choose a book with a colorful cover" strategy...it's "choose a book ...

This is Adelyn's favorite thing to do lately. For those of you who aren't related, you might find the video dull, but I of course could watch it over and over...and watch the live version of course. With that admittance out in the open, Nancy Isenberg's thoroughly researched 2007 biography of the controversial Aaron Burr is absolutely convincing in painting its portrait of a man who ...

One of my favorite aspects of my job at Her Interactive is the chance to create in-game books. As an unrepentant biblioholic, I leap at the chance to put together covers, layouts, and, of course, illustrations for the books our players glean clues from to aid their quests.
In our latest game, Warnings at Waverly Academy, the player must search through an old school history book to solve a puzzle ...

I'm typically a pretty slow reader, so it was surprising to me how quickly I got through most of these books. I guess when you're interested in something, reading is much easier. This speed reading ended, though, when I got to the last book, Michael Tolliver Lives.
I think it's because I knew it was the last book. I wasn't ready for the series to be ...

Yesterday I went to a new Bead Show being held in SF, The San Francisco Bead and Design show. It was in the Hotel Whitcomr in the Civic Center/Theatre district part of downtown. It's a dicey area but the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Â It was a really nice show, with tons of interesting jewelry and supplies. There were probably more jewelry and clothing for sale than supplies but the mix was ...
